Teaching Assistant - EWS Roade

We are a thriving community school looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to provide SEND support to EHCP students within an established team. This is fixed term position to 31 August 2026. You will work with school staff and students providing learning support to students across the school.
Applicants should have an interest in flexible learning methods, and a commitment to promoting self-esteem. Experience of working with young people in the 11 - 16 age range would be an advantage but is not essential. A good standard of literacy and numeracy, GCSE Grade C or equivalent in Maths and English are required for this post.

We require a part time Receptionist for 2 days a week (Thursdays & Fridays) for our front of house reception area at our Deanshanger site. Working in this busy reception area, the successful applicant will have a professional and confident and friendly manner. You will be responsible for answering the telephones, dealing with staff, student and parent queries and greeting and signing in all visitors as well as supporting colleagues with general admin duties. You will have a good understanding of Word, Excel, Google Drive. An understanding of SIMS is desirable but not essential.

The PA part of this role will be job sharing with our current academy coordinator/PA.
Job Context
Elizabeth Woodville School is a secondary academy in South Northamptonshire with approximately 600 students. This is a senior support role that exists to support the Headteacher and School Business Manager with the HR process in school, and to ensure compliance with the trust policies and procedures as the central employer. The school/trust outsources their HR advice and payroll processes to an external provider.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the HR functions of the school including absence, recruitment, payroll and wellbeing.
- Provide administrative support to the Headteacher and senior team in operational areas and governance. Work with the Clerk to Governors to ensure the Local Governing Body are supported and compliant in carrying out their duties.
Job Description
HR Responsibilities
- Manage all the pre-recruitment processes, including but not limited to the drafting & placing of adverts, presenting job descriptions for approval, creating Person specifications, shortlisting co-ordination, reference checking, interview scheduling and taking the lead on interview days.
- Carry out all the pre and post appointment checks including DBS processing, right to work documentation, completion of internal monitoring forms and entry of the employee on to the Single Central Record.
- Produce, issue or collate the appointment letters and process on the HR Portal in order to generate the contract in a timely manner to comply with the Good Work Plan.
- Manage and advise on the DBS processes within the Academy for new staff, volunteers, contractors, governors and visitors.
- Assume responsibility for the administration and maintenance of the Single Central Record as required by KCSiE and Ofsted guidelines and regulations.
- Coordinate the induction process with SLT for all new employees, and ensure the process is completed and signed off within the stated timeframes.
- Oversee the probation process for all new support staff, ensuring support is provided where required and more senior staff are involved when the process requires this.
- Provide the senior team with the staff attendance data as required, and facilitate the following of standard procedures, ensuring return to work meetings are arranged and completed, in line with the trust’s absence management policy.
- Maintain and keep updated & confidential the HR files/electronic records/personnel files of all employees and ensure that staff records held in the Academy are kept confidential and adhere to GDPR regulations and retention guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records on the Academy HR systems (Bromcom and MHR) to ensure all starters, leavers, and contract change information is updated and all supporting documentation is issued, retained and filed.
- Collate and record all requests for special leave, maternity, paternity and seek authorisation or relevant documentation as required.
- Assist with the completion of data validation and entry for the School Workforce Census (annual) on an ongoing basis.
- Prepare, collate and process all payroll variation claims monthly ensuring all internal and externally imposed deadlines are met.
- Maintain accurate monthly records for audit purposes and save payroll, Childcare Vouchers and other monthly reports to a central file for retention.
- Manage all changes and initial enquiries in relation to Pensions with support from the School Business Manager as required.
- Assist the School Business Manager with the personnel and payroll data requirements in relation to audit as required.
- Support the senior team with the administration and organisation associated with staff wellbeing.
Headteacher Support
- Provide a high quality and confidential service to the Headteacher including diary management, arranging meetings, dealing with correspondence and general clerical support.
- Provide an effective and confidential interface between the Headteacher, the Governors, and other groups including staff, parents/carers and external agencies.
- Monitor and develop procedures and systems to support the achievement of key educational and operational needs of the Academy.
- Provide admin support for SLT meetings occasionally to include drafting and distributing agendas, preparing documents including the H&S Log and typing up the minutes.
- Monitor all correspondence (incoming and outgoing) for the Headteacher, and ensure all routine information is passed to the LA/DfE/Ofsted/Governors on behalf of the Headteacher.
- Maintain effective relationships with students, staff, parents/carers and agencies especially those of a sensitive or confidential nature and be the point of entry for all formal complaints into the school.
- Liaise with the Headteacher for the promotion of the Academy including advertising, press releases, articles, reports and link to the central trust marketing team as required.
- Support the senior leadership team and governance professional with ensuring that all draft policies are communicated from TLT to the senior leader and back to LGB with comments/suggested amendments and final copies communicated and filed appropriately.
- Manage customer service provision for all channels of communications with the Academy. dealing with generic enquiries, complaints and compliments and signposting as necessary.
- Assist and co-ordinate events at the academy i.e. open evenings, parent’s evenings training days linking with internal and external resources.
- Have the flexibility to attend occasional after hour’s meetings if and when required and arranged in advance.
