KS3

Elizabeth Woodville School provides a broad and balanced curriculum for all its students through a three year Key Stage 3 (Years 7, 8 & 9) and two year Key Stage 4 (Years 10 & 11) provision.

Key Stage 3 Curriculum

In line with many schools across the country, as an academy, we do not have to follow the national curriculum; however, in order to build on the work students have completed in Key Stage 2 and to prepare for Level 2 (GCSE, Vocational) courses we use the national framework as our starting point in planning schemes of work and programmes of study.

We have a broad Key Stage 3 curriculum covering 14 subjects (15 in year 7). All students in Key Stage 3 study ‘English Baccalaureate’ or EBacc subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, Modern Foreign Languages, History and Geography. All students study Modern Foreign Languages (French & Spanish) in Years 7, 8 & 9. Alongside the EBacc subjects students currently study Art & Design on a rotation (Design & Technology, Food and Art), Music, Drama, Religious Studies, Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) and Physical Education.

PSHCE (Personal, Social, Health & Careers Education) is delivered within the PSHE time during morning base group time, assemblies and during a well-being lesson once a week.

Students also enjoy a varied and challenging PE programme each week, to build up their personal fitness and to develop vital life skills such as leadership, teamwork, communication, resilience etc.

At Elizabeth Woodville school we follow a one week timetable of 25 lessons per week; this is apportioned in each of the year groups as shown in the table below.
